I love a sweet treat as much as anyone, and these healthy Twix bars also happens to be healthy and vegan and are surely the ultimate chocolate bar!
Here’s how to make these gorgeous healthy Twix chocolate treats.
Ingredients
Base:
1 cup of almond flour
4 tbsp of melted coconut oil
2 tbsp of pure maple syrup
1/4 tsp of pink Himalayan salt
1 tsp of chia seeds
Caramel:
1 cup of medjool pitted dates
3 tbsp of plant-based milk (almond, soy etc)
2 tbsp of almond or peanut butter (brands like Meridan have no palm oil or hydrogenated oil and are pure)
1 tsp of chia seeds
2 tbsp of coconut sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp of pink Himalayan salt
Chocolate coating:
4 tbsp of melted coconut oil
1 large tbsp of almond or peanut butter
3 tbsp of raw cacao powder
2 tbsp of maple syrup
1 tsp of chia seeds
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Method
Base:
Add almond flour and the salt to a medium-sized bowl then mix.
Add the coconut oil and maple syrup and mix until a dough like mixture is formed.
Press into a loaf tin and freeze for roughly half an hour.
Caramel:
Put the pitted dates into a food processor (or even a blender would work) and blend until they form a smooth paste.
Add the milk, almond/peanut butter, salt, chia seeds, sugar and vanilla extract and blend together until everything is combined.
Spread this caramel over your base evenly and then freeze again for another few hours.
Chocolate coating:
Add coconut oil, nut butter, cacao powder, maple syrup, chia seeds and vanilla extract to a bowl.
Melt mixture in bowl over a pan with simmering water until all combined.
Pour mixture over the base and caramel and leave to freeze for roughly an hour until the chocolate is completely set.
Watch them disappear as the whole family realises how good they are!
