How to make beef and broccoli stir fry
Serves 2
Takes 20 mins
Ingredients
Head of broccoli
2 x 300g quality sirloin steaks or fillet steak for a real treat
2 teaspoons coriander seeds
olive oil
1 red onion, peeled and finely sliced
2 cloves garlic, peeled and finely sliced
1 thumb-sized piece fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon honey (optional)
Slices of red chilli
Serve with bulgur wheat
Method
Place the broccoli spears into a heat-proof bowl and cover them with boiling water. Add a good pinch of salt and leave for 10 minutes. Drain and put to one side.
Slice the steaks into strips and season with salt and pepper. Crush the coriander seeds in a mortar and pestle and cover the strips.
Heat a wok or large frying pan until very hot. Pour in a splash of olive oil and add the onions, garlic and ginger. Fry for a couple of minutes until the onions have softened. Stir-fry the beef for a couple of minutes. Add the broccoli and cook for another 2 minutes.
Pour in the soy sauce, sesame oil and honey. Toss in the pan until everything is well coated. Serve with bulgur wheat.
Handy Tip: To cook the bulgur wheat, simply place in a saucepan and add boiling water. Cover with a lid and it will self cook in under 15 minutes.
Serve with sliced red chilli and a splash of lime for a bit of extra kick!
